Telangana Panchayat Raj Minister Errabelli Dayakar Rao today lashed out at BJP state president Bandi Sanjay Kumar for his comments against Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao and the TRS government.
Taking strong exception to Kumar's claims that the CM would go to jail for corruption in the state's big projects, including the Kaleshwaram lift irrigation scheme, Rao said that the BJP leader would surely face the ire of the people for making irresponsible comments against their CM.
"Sanjay is speaking like a person who is devoid of any political knowledge. If he continues to make such loose and unsubstantiated comments against the CM, the people of the state will revolt against him. Instead of trying to discredit KCR, he should focus on working for his party," he said.
He also refuted Kumar's allegations against the CM by citing the large number of welfare schemes being implemented by the latter.
"The state government, under KCR, has been implementing welfare schemes by spending crores of rupees. We have spent nearly Rs 40,000 crore on such schemes. Can such a leader be corrupt? I would like to point out that it is neither the TRS government nor CM KCR who is cheating the people. In fact, it is the BJP-led union government that has been denying funds for their development. The Centre denied funds of Rs 24,000 crore for the state's Mission Bhagiratha and Mission Kakatiya schemes. It even ignored the recommendations made by the Niti Aayog to provide the same," Rao claimed.
Continuing his attack on the BJP, the minister also accused it of raking up communal issues for electoral gains.
"While it has not given a single rupee to the state, the BJP seems to have no qualms in raking up communal issues to create a foothold here. However, the party and its leaders should both remember that making provocative comments is not enough to garner the support of the people. The BJP's attempts to stir up communal strife will not work. So, instead of trying to mislead the people, the BJP should secure funds for the state's development if it really wants to win over the people," he added.
