In yet another major jolt to the Telangana Telugu Desam Party (T-TDP), senior MLAs Errabelli Dayakar Rao and Prakash Goud defected to the ruling TRS today.
Palakurthi MLA and TDP Floor Leader in the State Assembly Errabelli Dayakar Rao himself said that he was joining the TRS along with Rajendra Nagar MLA Prakash Goud.
Before announcing his decision, Errabelli had a meeting with the Irrigation Minister T Harish Rao on Wednesday.
With these two MLAs joining, the TRS needs only one more TDP MLA to join it to avoid the defectors from the TDP attracting the provisions of the Anti-Defection Law, since 10 of the 15 TDP MLAs would have defected, constituting a two-third majority.
The TDP MLAs who have already joined the TRS are Talasani Srinivas Yadav (Sanath Nagar), Theegala Krishna Reddy (Maheshwaram), G Sayanna (Secunderabad Cantonment), Manchi Reddy Kishan Reddy (Ibrahim Patnam), Challa Dharma Reddy (Parkal), K P Vivekananda (Qutbullapur) and Madhavaram Krishna Rao (Kukatpally).
The remaining MLAs in the TDP are Maganti Gopinath (Jubilee Hills), Arikepudi Gandhi (Sherilingampally), Rajender Reddy (Narayanapet), A Revanth Reddy (Kodangal), R Krishnaiah (L B Nagar) and Sandra Venkata Veeraiah (Sathupally).
There was a joke in the political circles that Errabelli would join the TRS only after sending all of the TDP's MLAs to the TRS. It seems to have been near-reality, after all.
