Hundreds of students affiliated with the AIYF and DYFI, on Thursday, tried to gherao the Ministers' Quarters at Banjara Hills, in protest against the state government's alleged move to dilute the fee reimbursement scheme.
Talking to reporters, AIYF president Navaneethan Sambasiva Rao and DYFI's M Swaraj demanded that the state government reject the recommendations made by the cabinet sub-committee on fee recommendations.
They demanded that the existing fee reimbursement scheme be continued in the interests of the students' community.
The City Police had a tough time controlling the activists when they tried to barge into the Minister's Quarters. However, all the activists were later arrested and shifted to a nearby police station. (INN)
