Around 98,218 Seats and 22 colleges remain vacant after the 2nd phase of counselling ended on Tuesday.
The number of colleged with absolutely no-admissions rose to 22 at the end of the 2nd phase of counselling of EAMCET 2012.
The number of vacant seats recorded an all-time high, with 1,06,371 remaining vacant including 98,218 engineering seats and 8,153 pharmacy seats.
The Electronics And Communication Engineering (ECE) was again the favourite stream being chosen, with 38,522 students joining it. In Computer Science And Engineering (CSE), 25,827 seats were taken.
The number of vacant seats has been increasing by nearly two-fold over the past two years. 76,310 seats were vacant in 2011, while 40,273 seats were vacant in 2010.
229 colleges received less than 100 admissions, while 6,296 cancelled their admissions. Students of colleges where the admissions after the 1st phase of counselling were meagre chose to shift to colleges which saw a larger number of admissions, forcing the colleges to remain vacant.
Even as Electronics And Communication Engineering (ECE) was the hottest stream of the year, 22,668 seats of it remained vacant - the highest of all the branches, followed by Electrical And Electronics Engineering (EEE), which saw 16,640 vacant seats. Information Technology (IT) had 12,334 seats vacant, and Mechanical Engineering saw 9,855 of its seats vacant. The minimal of all was Civil Engineering, in which 8,018 seats remained vacant.
Candidates have to report to their respective college before October 6. While reporting, candidates have to take a printout of the allotment order from the website, along with the bank challan form for the payment of fee. Candidates who want to cancel their admission have to approach the helpline centres before October 10, only after which can they collect their certificates.
