The Cyber Crime Police have arrested an engineer for posting objectionable pictures and messages of his ex-fianc?e by creating a fake profile of hers on social networking websites.
According to the police, the accused, K Deepak of Visakhapatnam, was harassing a girl with whom his engagement was broken a few months ago.
He created a fake profile, and uploaded objectionable pictures and text in her name.
Based on a complaint by the girl's father, the Cyber Crime Police Station registered a case Under section 66-A of IT (Amendment) Act 2008, Sec. 507 IPC, and started investigations.
After a technical investigation, Deepak was arrested late on Friday.
The police also seized a laptop from his possession, which was used in the offence. He has been sent for judicial remand.
The Cyber Police have cautioned to the public that posting anybody's images without their consent is a crime. Social networking communication is not anonymous, and persons can easily be tracked by the Cyber Crime Department, they stated.
Further, the police have requested women not to allow their friends to take pictures of intimacy, that might be later misused by friends. (INN)
