Toughening its stand, the state government, on Friday, warned that it would take severe action against the striking junior doctors if they do not withdraw their strike immediately.
Talking to reporters at the Congress Legislature Party office, Primary Education Minister K Sailajanath, who is also a member of the cabinet sub-committee on junior doctors, said that some of the demands of the striking junior doctors were not acceptable.
The junior doctors want the rules on compulsory service in rural areas to be changed, he said, and added that this rule could not be modified, in the interest of rural masses.
Sailajanath said that the state government has also agreed to honour the agreement on stipend that the junior doctors had about 2 years ago. He said that as per the agreement, the government has been affecting a hike in stipend this year.
Asking the junior doctors not to be adamant, he asked them to withdraw the strike and resume their duties. (INN)
