Secondary Education Minister K Parathasarathy, on Friday, announced that the EAMCET weightage marks and ranks would be allotted only after the Intermediate 2nd year supplementary results are declared.
Talking to reporters after holding a meeting with the officials of the Higher Education Department, and later with Deputy Chief Minister Damodar Rajanarasimha at the state Secretariat, Parathasarathy said that the EAMCET results would be announced on 24 May. Ranks would be announced next, he said.
The minister said that students appearing for supplementary or improvement exams need not worry, as the marks they would secure in the supplementary exams would be considered in the EAMCET weightage model.
The decision will help over one lakh 2nd year Inter students. Several students are appearing for the improvement exam this year, to improve their score in the Physics paper.
While about 31% of students who had appeared had failed in Physics, several thousands more secured low marks, prompting the government to allow them to write the improvement exam. Now, these students will be treated on par with other students. (INN)
