A son of an auto-rickshaw driver proved that dedication and hard work does really pay, by grabbing the first rank in the Engineering, Agricultural and Medical Common Entrance Test (EAMCET) 2010, results of which were released on Wednesday.
Ghouse Jani, the auto-rickshaw driver's son hailing from Visakhapatnam, was ranked first in the engineering stream, while city girl Ravinuthala Lalitha bagged the top spot in the medical stream.
Releasing the EAMCET-2010 ranks at the Jawaharlal Nehru Technological University (JNTU) on Wednesday, Technical Education Minister Mopidevi Venkatrama Rao praised the efforts of all the students.
He said that 82% of engineering aspirants and 86% of Medical students were declared as qualified in the rankings.
A Janardhan Reddy from Guntur, Boyapati Pallavi from Vijayawada, Sai Nitish from Kakinada and Y Lakshmipati from Chittoor secured the 2nd, 3rd, 4th and 5th ranks, respectively, in the engineering stream.
N Kiranmayee from Vijayawada, Rahul from Hyderabad, Sri Lakshmi from Vijayawada and Challa Madhuri from Hyderabad secured the 2nd, 3rd, 4th and 5th ranks, respectively, in the medical stream.
