The Chief Justice of Andhra Pradesh High Court Madan Bhimrao Lokur, on Thursday, administered the oath of office to ESL Narasimhan as Governor of the state, for the second time, at a simple ceremony at Raj Bhavan.
After the oath-taking ceremony at 1pm, Justice Madan Bhimrao Lokur, Chief Minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy, Deputy Chief Minister Damodar Rajanarasimha, Home Minister Sabitha Indra Reddy, Minister For Major industries J Geetha Reddy, Assembly Speaker Nadendla Manohar, Chief Secretary Pankaj Dwivedi, Director General of Police V Dinesh Reddy and other officials congratulated the Governor for his second term.
It may be recalled that President Prathiba Patil recently extended Narasimhan's term as the Governor of Andhra Pradesh.
In a message on the occasion, Narasimhan thanked the people of the state for reposing their faith and affection in him, and promised to work for the all-round development of the state.
Hailing the rich history and culture of Andhra Pradesh, Narasimhan said that he would visit all places in the state to get first-hand information on people's problems once the by-elections in 18 Assembly segments conclude.
Narasimhan said that the fruits of development must not be limited to Hyderabad or Visakhapatnam, and that they must benefit all people in the state. He said that he would now focus his attention on the development of tribals in the Agency areas. (INN)
