The Lok Satta Party, on Monday, expressed concern over the non-seriousness of political parties in debating the state's Budget on the floor of the state Legislative Assembly.
Talking to reporters at the Assembly media point, Lok Satta Party MLA Dr. Jaya Prakash Narayan said that the state would spend Rs. 1.45 lakh crore in the next one year.
Giving a break-up of the amount, he said the government would be spending Rs. 400 crore per day; Rs. 17 crore per hour; Rs. 28 lakh per minute or Rs. 27,000 per second, during the financial year 2012-13. Therefore, he said, the House must discuss the state Budget in detail.
However, JP said that the both the ruling Congress and the opposition parties have been deliberately avoiding a discussion on the budget while diverting the House's attention to other issues.
He also criticised Speaker Nadendla Manohar for adjourning the House frequently without allowing discussions to take place.
The Lok Satta Party MLA said that even children were laughing at the behaviour of MLAs in the House, and that collectively, all parties were proving themselves a blot on the constitution.
He demanded that all political parties resolve to run the House smoothly and participate in a discussion on the Budget. (INN)
