Over 55,000 candidates appeared for the Diploma In Education (DEd) Paper-I, held across the state, on Sunday.

Over 55,000 candidates appeared for the Diploma In Education (DEd) Paper-I, held across Andhra Pradesh, on Sunday.
According to Teachers Eligibility Test Director Sheshukumari, nearly 67.82% candidates appeared for the DEd exam held on Sunday. Of 81,957 candidates who registered themselves for the test, 55,584 candidates attended the exam.
Talking to media persons after the completion of the first paper for DEd candidates, the Director said that 23,373 candidates did not turn up for the examination.
She stated that the highest percentage of attendance was registered in Vizianagaram district, with 95.47, while the lowest percentage was registered in Guntur district, with 53.06%.
As decided earlier, candidates who came late even by a minute were not allowed to enter the examination hall, she said.
The Director said that the test passed off peacefully across the 2,100 centres in the state, and that no untoward incident was reported from any centre.
The government was making all arrangements to release the TET results by January 28, she said. (INN)
