Alleging that Telangana Animal Husbandry Minister Talasani Srinivas Yadav had played a role in the Miyapur land registration scam, AICC general secretary and Telangana Congress party affairs in-charge Digvijay Singh demanded that the state government order a CBI inquiry into the scam.
Speaking to the media at Gandhi Bhavan on Thursday along with party leaders Mallu Ravi, M Rangareddy and Laxman Goud, Singh asked Talasani to tender his resignation as minister owning responsibility in the Miyapur scam.
The AICC leader said that the Congress had lost confidence in Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao, who was trying to close the issue by transferring some sub-registrars so as to protect political leaders complicit in the case.
The government had left out important leaders in the Miyapur land scam just like it did in the case of slain gangster Nayeem, where the government initiated action against the police leaving the political leaders involved untouched, he said. He alleged that the KCR family perhaps needed a person like Talasani to collect money.
He said that the Congress party had no objection if the government ordered inquiries into any land scams during the Congress rule, too.
Asking the government about the Bhoodhan lands and how much land remained and in whose hands it was, he said that the Miyapur lands too had disappeared like the Bhoodhan lands.
He claimed that the TRS government was in neck-deep corruption, and opined that he had no belief that it would conduct any inquiry into the Miyapur issue transparently. The facts would come out only if the government ordered a CBI inquiry, he said.
