Congress leader A Revanth Reddy today alleged that the TRS government had prorogued the Assembly in a hurry only to bring in the Assignment Lands Ordinance.
He alleged that Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao and "My Home" Jupally Rameshwara Rao were indulging in a large-scale land scam with the ordinance.
Speaking to the media at the Assembly Media Hall on Monday, Reddy said that the TRS government was giving an impression that it was benefiting the beneficiaries by bringing in the Assignment Lands Ordinance, but that a land scam involving thousands of crores and KCR family was behind it.
He demanded that the Chief Minister respond on his allegations if the latter was indeed honest.
Revanth Reddy alleged that 4,000 acres of land in the Shamshabad and Maheshwaram areas was in the hands of Jupally Rameshwara Rao, and that Rao was KCR's benami in the scam. The Rangareddy district Collector had handed over these lands to Rameshwara Rao, and the government was bringing in the ordinance in a hurry only to regularize these lands illegally and to benefit Rameshwara Rao. The government had also transferred senior IAS officer B R Meena from the revenue department as he had opposed regularization of the assigned lands located in the HMDA's purview, Reddy claimed.
Reddy demanded that the state government reveal how many acres of land Jupally Rameshwara Rao had in the Shamshabad and Maheshwaram areas and how many acres were assigned lands among them. He also dared the Chief Minister to file cases if he had the guts as he (Reddy) was making allegations against KCR and his relatives.
He also said that this land was also behind the encounter of Nayeem, and that one just needed to ask the people of Muchinthala village to know about the conspiracy behind the encounter.
He demanded that the state government take over the assigned lands occupied by land grabbers, and order an inquiry into the entire land issue. He also asked the TRS leaders to answer his questions instead of provoking him by chiding him.
