Different Types Of Prasadam For Different Devotees By TTD
The devasthanam reportedly provides different darshan and prasadam experiences for different devotees despite a Supreme Court directive.

Ancient scriptures across various religions, including Hinduism, emphasise the equality of all living beings before God. Reflecting this principle, the Supreme Court has previously suggested that there should be no special arrangements for VIP darshan at temples and religious sites.
A bench of then CJI Sanjay Khanna and Justice Sanjay Kumar, hearing a PIL by Vijay Kishor Goswami, had said that while VIP darshan facilities should not exist, the court could not direct States to frame a standard operating procedure under Article 32 of the Constitution.
Despite such guidance, the Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanam (TTD) currently reportedly provides different darshan and prasadam experiences for different devotees.
VVIPs are offered direct darshan and special Aasthanam laddus, each weighing 750 grams and prepared with additional ghee, cashew nuts and saffron. Devotees participating in Kalyanotsavam receive a slightly different laddu, while ordinary devotees, who often wait 24-36 hours in queues, are given a smaller 175-gram Proktham laddu.
On auspicious days and during VVIP visits, special alankaram (decorations) is also performed for the deity.
Observers note that these practices raise questions about equality among devotees, highlighting a contrast between traditional teachings, the advice of spiritual leaders such as Swami Vivekananda, and the current practices.
Whether TTD will review and adjust these arrangements remains to be seen.
