Director General Of Police V Dinesh Reddy, on Friday, assured migrants in Hyderabad from the North Eastern states that the government would take all measures to provide them with security.
Talking to media persons at the police commissioner's office, Dinesh Reddy appealed to students and families from Assam not to believe rumours of attacks being planned on them.
He said that there have been no reports of violence targeting their community members.
Stating that the exodus of North Eastern people from AP has decreased due to the efforts of the police, he said that the government has taken various steps to dispel fears from the minds of the students.
"The rumours are false, and everyone is safe in the city. There is no threat to their lives in the state," he said.
The DGP said that the government would deploy Armed Reserve Forces in areas where migrants from Assam live. He asked the North Eastern citizens to lodge complaints at police stations nearby if they feel insecure and targeted by any community. (INN)
