Those who were too lazy to go set-top-box shopping can now heave a sigh of relief. The Andhra Pradesh High Court has ordered a week-long stay on the imminent digitalisation of the broadcasting system.
The digitisation was made compulsory in Hyderabad and Visakhapatnam from 1 April, but due to a shortage of set top boxes, the process could not be completed.
Many TVs went silent in the twin cities and in Visakhapatnam since Monday afternoon.
Following a PIL, the High Court stayed the process for one week to enable all customers to equip their TV sets with set top boxes. The court also directed the police not to take any action against MSOs. (INN)
