Lok Satta Party founder-President Dr. Jayaprakash Narayan today said that the decision to demonetize the 500 and 1,000 rupee currency bills by Prime Minister Narendra Modi exposed the erratic functioning and gaping loopholes in the nation's Administration.
The note ban had exposed inefficiency and how even the best accountability systems are in bad shape, he said and suggested five measures to improve efficiency and accountability in the system.
Wishing people a prosperous New Year, Narayan said that there was an urgent need to improve citizen services by bringing a Service Guarantee Act - certificates including FIR, water and electricity connections, and land records should be provided to citizen as soon as applied.
"There must not not be any disparity between the poor and the rich and they ought to be provided with equal justice. All are equal before the Law. Crime wing should be separated from Law and given an autonomous status. Every district should have a forensic laboratory and cases should be solved locally," he added.
The Loksatta President also stressed the need to provide standard education and health services. Education and Health sectors should have additional 0.6 - 0.8 % share in the GDP rate. The government should provide 33% funds directly to local bodies.
He added that reforms should be brought in the electoral system to prevent use of black money by corrupt and politicians with criminal record.
