Demand To Withdraw Compulsory Helmet Rule In City
The Telangana Two-Wheeler Riders' Association has urged the State government to withdraw the rule mandating compulsory use of helmet by two-wheeler riders.
The Telangana Two-Wheeler Riders' Association (TTWRA) has urged the State government to withdraw the rule mandating compulsory use of helmet by two-wheeler riders.
TTWRA convener Mohammed Amanullah Khan felt that the use of a helmet was not important, and that usage of helmets would not curb fatal road accidents. He claimed that people were dying in accidents due to driving after consuming spurious liquor and smoking.
He therefore urged the State government to create awareness among the people on traffic rules instead.
He also condemned the Central government for making helmet use compulsory, and stated that the police were harassing two-wheeler riders in the name of helmet use.
The TTWRA leaders urged the State government to amend the Motor Vehicle (MV) Act immediately, and offer relief to two-wheeler riders.
