Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu seemed to have gotten pretty upset and annoyed at Telugu Desam Party MP J C Diwakar Reddy for his "unruly behaviour" at the Visakhapatnam airport on Thursday which led to five airlines imposing a no-fly ban on the MP.
The Ananthapur MP had created a ruckus at the airport for his airline denying him a boarding pass for reaching the check-in counter after it was closed. The infuriated MP allegedly went into a rage against the airlines staff in an "aggressive and abusive" manner. He was soon provided with a boarding pass to leave for Hyderabad. But for his alleged "misbehaviour", five airlines imposed a no-fly ban on him.
Upon coming to know of the incident, Chandrababu Naidu apparently got quite upset as it would affect the image of the Telugu Desam Party especially since his own party MP Ashok Gajapathi Raju was in charge of the Civil Aviation Ministry. He tried to initiate damage control by asking another party MP C M Ramesh to get in touch with Reddy and sort out the issue.
Ashok Gajapathi Raju, meanwhile, said that investigation was on in the incident. He also made it clear that he had no role in the decision of the airlines imposing a no-fly ban on Diwakar Reddy. However he said that though Diwakar Reddy had told him that he had reached the airport one hour in advance, the CCTV footage showed otherwise.
Soon after the incident at the Vizag airport, there were widespread demands from all quarters, especially from the Opposition in the state, for firm action against the MP. Since Reddy's action had tarnished the image of the state, he should be placed under suspension immediately, the opposition leaders and some also from within the TDP said.
