Primary education minister S Sailajanath, on Thursday, said that the state government would take a decision on the implementation of the Right To Education Act after chief minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy's New Delhi visit.
Talking to media persons at the state Secretariat, Sailajanath said that the government needs to clarify with the Centre certain issues in connection with the implementation of the Right To Education Act.
The government will implement the Act in letter and spirit once it gets some clarity on those issues, he said.
He also said that the government was planning to bring classes 9 and 10 under the Right To Education Act.
The minister suggested that the private and corporate schools in the state reserve 25% of seats for poor classes as a part of social responsibility. He also said that the government would initiate severe action against those responsible for insulting castes in the educational curriculum.
Admitting to the delay in the supply of textbooks in schools, Sailajanath said that the government was making all arrangements in this regard.
He also informed that the chief minister would launch an Educational Fortnight from Chandragiri in Chittoor district on 9 July. (INN)
