Deccan Chargers Sporting Ventures Ltd, the parent company of the Deccan Chargers team on Monday, served a legal notice to the Indian Premier League (IPL) and the BCCI, threatening to pull out of IPL 2010 if the 6 home matches of the team were not brought back to Hyderabad and Vizag.
According to the notice, the decision taken by the organizing bodies to shift the matches was arbitrary and unilateral, and in complete breach of the franchise agreement dated 10 April 2008. It also said that the action was also against the spirit of the game the objective of the league matches and the concept of having franchisees from different regions, and also against public interest.
The notice said that the Chargers had allowed the opening match to be moved out only subject to the condition that the remaining 6 matches were to be played in Hyderabad and Vizag.
The Deccan Chargers says that though the CM, the sports minister and the DGP have all assured security to the matches, the IPL took a unilateral decision to shift them to Nagpur and Mumbai. Also, the Telangana JAC has told the team that it wants these matches to be held at home.
