Vemula's Mother Slams Controversy Over Her Caste

Radhika Vemula said that she was an SC Mala, and had married a person belonging to the Vaddera (BC-A) caste, who she later divorced.
Hyderabad | 23rd January 2016
Condemning the various reports questioning her caste, deceased UoH research scholar Rohith Vemula's mother Radhika Vemula on Saturday asked why some people were now making a fuss over the issue.

Speaking to the media on the campus on Saturday, Radhika said she was an SC (dalit) Mala and had married a person belonging to the Vaddera (BC-A) caste. She said that she bore him two sons and one daughter, and divorced him after Rohith's birth.

Rohith's brother Raja Vemula, too, lamented that a section of people were raising a controversy over their caste after Rohith's death. He also found fault with Prime Minister Narendra Modi for responding to his brother's death only after five days.
