Padma, wife of director and former union minister Dasari Narayana Rao, died at a private hospital in Hyderabad on Friday.
She was 61, and is survived by her husband, 2 sons, and a daughter.
Padma was not keeping well since long, and was admitted to hospital a few days ago, when her health was in a critical condition.
Dasari's grief was shared by the entire film industry, and many personalities went to his residence to console the bereaved family.
Tamil Nadu Governor K Rosaiah sent the family a condolence message, while film director K Raghavendra Rao, producer D Rama Naidu, actor Mohan Babu and Murali Mohan (who represented the Movie Artistes Association) were among the prominent figures from Tollywood who paid their respects to Padma.
PCC Chief Botsa Satyanarayana, along with other political leaders, was also seen.
Padma produced several films directed by Dasari Narayana Rao, including Sivaranjani and Megha Sandesham.
She was also the Women's Wing president of the Tamil Nadu Congress for some time.
Dasari's Padma Arts banner was used to pursue his theatre career in his early days, when he was an employee of HAL.
As a mark of respect, Naga Chaitanya starrer Bezawada's official trailer launch was cancelled. A new date will be issued by the production house shortly.
Meanwhile, several film and political personalities, including chief minister K Kiran Kumar Reddy and N Chandra Babu Naidu, paid homage to Padma and offered their condolences to the bereaved family members.
The last rites will be performed on Saturday at Dasari's farmhouse at Moinabad. (INN)
