Former minister Damodar Reddy on Tuesday demanded that MP Kavuri Sambhasiva Rao withdraw his allegedly objectionable remarks made against tribals during MPs meeting at New Delhi on the Polavaram Irrigation Project.
Taking a serious note on the MP's comments at the meeting, Damodar Reddy condemned the remarks, and sought a public apology.
Sambhasiva Rao, at the MPs' meeting, had described in detail how the lives of tribals affected by Kolleru project had improved with the help of rehabilitation schemes announced by the government.
Damodar Reddy, however, found fault with the description, and stated that the comments made by Sambhasiva Rao were unbecoming of his position considering his seniority.
Reacting to Sambhasiva Rao's comments against senior Congress leader K Kesava Rao that he was not eligible for Congress Working Committee (CWC) membership, Damodar Reddy stated that the comments were an insult against Sonia Gandhi also, as she appointed CWC members. He stated that Sambhasiva Rao should apologise for these comments, too.
The former minister said that everyone from Telangana knew fully well that KK was working for their interests.
Reacting to protests against the absence of former chief minister late Y S Rajasekhara Reddy's photo on the banners at Telangana martyrs meeting, Damodar Reddy stated that everybody knew that YSR was against the formation of Telangana state.
The Telangana leaders had already taken a decision in the Congress Action Committee For Telangana not to include YSR's photos at the martyrs meeting.
Damodar Reddy also questioned why the Kadapa MP Y S Jaganmohan Reddy was not putting up Congress president Sonia Gandhi's photos on banners at Odarpu Yatra.
