Veteran leader Dharmapuri Srinivas today denied news reports that he had joined the Congress.
He addressed a letter to Congress president Mallikarjuna Kharge on the issue.
In his letter, DS asked Kharge to consider his letter as his resignation if the former had felt that he had joined the Congress.
He made it clear that he had visited the Telangana Congress office Gandhi Bhavan in order to witness the joining of his elder son D Sanjay into the party, and that some Congress leaders had wrapped a party scarf around his neck and spread the news that he had also joined the party.
While claiming that he would remain a Congressman throughout his life, he told Kharge that he was keeping a distance from active politics due to his poor health.
He also told the Congress president that it was not correct to link a party ticket for his son in the upcoming Assembly elections to his entry into the party. He said that it was a known fact that the Congress party tickets were allotted based on various factors including the guidelines and customs of the party.
He urged Kharge not to drag his name into politics keeping in view his poor health condition.
DS kept his wife D Vijaya Lakshmi as a witness in his letter.
