Civil Supplies Minister D Sridhar Babu reacted to the statewide protests being conducted by the Telugu Desam Party (TDP). The minister alleged that the TDP was staging a political drama, and that the wide-spread protests were unnecessary as, according to Sridhar, the situation in the state is not as stark as the party is saying it is.
The minister also expressed confidence that the people of the state would not believe in the TDP.
MLA K Parthasarathi informed media persons that the farmers of the Krishna district faced no problems in getting the Minimum Support Price (MSP) for their grains, and that there were no complaints from the farmers of the district.
He slammed the TDP's statewide protests, and opined that the protests were nothing more than an attempt to draw political mileage.
However, the statements of the Congress ministers seem insubstantial, with farmers across the state lamenting their situation, and every political outfit pouncing upon the issue to milk it for all its worth.
With farmers resorting to burning their paddy on the streets to highlight the lack of storage space at grain purchase centre, and irate farmers staging dharnas, it sure does not seem like the farmers' problems are fabricated.
