Cyclone Jal is likely to move further in the west-northwesterly direction and weaken gradually.
The cyclonic storm 'Jal' further weakened into a depression and crossed north Tamil Nadu and the south Andhra coast 60 km north of Chennai, between 10:30pm and 11:30pm on Sunday night.
The cyclone moved in the west-northwesterly direction, and lay centred over Rayalaseema, about 50 km northeast of Anantapur, at 8:30am on Monday.

The depression over Rayalaseema and its neighbourhood moved slightly westwards and weakened into a well-marked low pressure area over Rayalaseema and adjoining south interior Karnataka at 11:30am on Monday.
Under its influence, rain or thundershower at most places with isolated heavy falls is likely to occur over south interior and coastal Karnataka during the next 24 hours.
The monsoon brought heavy to very heavy rains at most places over coastal Andhra Pradesh and Rayalaseema, along with isolated rain over Telangana.
Palasa and Sompeta (Srikakulam district) recorded extremely heavy rainfall of 27 cm and 14 cm respectively.
The other stations that recorded heavy rainfall (in cm) are Ichapuram (Srikakulam dist) - 12; Puttur - 11; Kalingapatnam, Kuppam (Chittoor dist) and Rayachoty (Cuddapah dist) - 10 each; Tekkali (Srikakulam dist) - 9; Bheemunipatnam (Visakhapatnam dist) and Vempalli (Cuddapah dist) - 8 each; Nellore, Anakapalle
(Visakhapatnam dist), Hindupur, Kadiri and Madakasira (all Anantapur dist), Kandukur (Prakasam dist), Mandasa (Srikakulam dist), Sullurpet (Nellore dist), and Thambalapalle (Chittoor dist) - 7 each.
The other chief amounts of rainfall recorded in cm are Kavali, Visakhapatnam, Visakhapatnam AP, Dharmavaram and Penukonda (both Anantapur dist), Elamanchili (Visakhapatnam dist), Rapur and Tada (both Nellore dist) - 6 each; Arogyavaram, Tirupathi AP, Amarapuram, Chilamattur & Kalyandurg (all Anantapur dist), Chodavaram (Visakhapatnam dist), Palamaner (Chittoor dist), Patapatnam (Srikakulam dist), Pulivendala & Rajampet (both Cuddapah dist) and Udayagiri (Nellore dist) 5 each.
The minimum temperatures were significantly above normal at one or two places over Telangana and Rayalaseema, and above normal at many places over coastal Andhra Pradesh.
The lowest minimum temperature of 15 degrees Celsius was recorded at Adilabad.
