Cyberabad Police Commissioner C V Anand on Friday extended the deadline for bank managements to ensure safe guarding of banks and ATMs.
The Commissioner had earlier instructed the banks to depute trained security guards with licensed weapons round the clock, to install quality night vision CC cameras with three months backup in banks and ATMs.
Also, instructions were given to install alarms with sensor systems to detect any attacks, fixing of magnetic locks and also to ensure that the location of ATMs be at safe and public visible areas etc.
The banks were earlier asked to implement these measures by January 15.
Following requests from banks seeking an extension of time for complying with all the instructions, since some of them have to take permission from their Head Office and other issues, the Commissioner has extended the deadline to February 10th.
Anand said that any bank and its officials, if found violating the above orders and not taking precautionary measures, shall be liable for prosecution under the Hyderabad City Police Act, 1348 Fasli (No.IX r/w Rule 7 of Cyberabad Metropolitan Police Act 2004).
It is informed that after February 10, the Cyberabad Police will take up surprise checks. (INN)
