Cyber Crimes Up By 24%: Hyderabad Police

Commissioner of Police C V Anand said that digital arrests were a major cause of concern in the recent past.
Hyderabad | 6th November 2024
Hyderabad Commissioner of Police C V Anand today said that cyber crimes had increased by 24% this year.

Minister Sridhar Babu inaugurated a cyber security summit named Hack 2.0 in Hyderabad. Speaking at the event, the CP said there were 36 types of cyber crimes in the State, and that digital arrests were a cause of concern in the recent past.

He added that it was the highly educated people who were falling into the traps of cyber criminals and getting cheated. "Recently, 28 cyber criminals were arrested in Rajasthan. They are accused in 243 cases across the country, including 28 in Telangana alone. The Telangana police are nabbing cyber criminals amidst a lot of challenges - cyber criminals are committing their offences by sitting in far-flung areas, and going to other States and arresting them is a challenging task as the locals resort to attacks when we go to arrest them. But the force is doing well despite the challenges - this year, we have returned Rs 35.8 crore to the victims," Anand said.

Director of Cyber Security Bureau Shikha Goyal was also present on the occasion.
