Hyderabad City Police Commissioner M Mahendar Reddy on Monday said that the crime rate in the capital city had reduced by 14% in the current year.
Speaking to mediapersons today, Reddy said that while snatching chains from women had risen, other atrocities against women like sexual assaults had come down compared to the previous year.
He also disclosed that criminal cases under the Preventive Detention Act were registered against 263 persons, and that the She Teams had registered 1,111 cases till now this year.
The City Police Commissioner also disclosed that 33% of posts in the police force remained vacant in the city.
