The CPI Telangana Council demanded the State government order a vigilance inquiry into the collapse of the six-storey building that killed five persons, and initiate stringent action against the persons responsible.
CPI State Secretary Chada Venkat Reddy demanded that the GHMC give Rs. 10 lakhs ex-gratia each to the kin of the deceased. He claimed that several GHMC officials including the Deputy Commissioner indulged in irregularities in giving construction permits, even though the builder had been constructing the building for the past four years.
He said that such incidents should not be occuring in Hyderabad, as it was supposed to be a model city. But despite Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao stating that he would initiate action against illegal constructions, the tragic incident still occured.
He alleged that Municipal Minister K T Rama Rao, being the Municipal Minister, couldn't prevent the incident.
He demanded that the government order an inquiry into the incident and initiate action against all ministers, officials and private parties (owners) involved in this and other similar incidents.
