The Telangana CPI organized a protest march, titled "Chalo GHMC", on Wednesday, alleging a massive graft of crores of rupees in the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) that led to the worsening of the condition of roads in Hyderabad, and demanded that the State government order an inquiry into this.
Participating in the rally, CPI State Secretary Chada Venkat Reddy recalled the recent Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) raid on a GHMC official's office, from where crores of rupees were recovered. He demanded that the ACB and the Telangana Police take swift action against the accused immediately, and asked the State government to stay vigilant against such practices.
CPI national executive member Aziz Pasha claimed that the deteriorating condition of roads in Hyderabad were more due to the graft of using substandard material in its construction, than due to rains.
CPI Greater Hyderabad executive members Gelvaiah, M Narsimha, Kamatham Yadagiri, Women Federation State President P Kalavathi, Chaya Devi, Shobha Rani and others participated in the program.
