CP-cum-ADM Hears Fistfight Among Congress And AIMIM
The Commissioner advised both groups to refrain from provocative activities and adjourned the case for further hearing.
Hyderabad | 24th October 2024
Today, the Commissioner of Police and Additional District Magistrate (Executive) of the Hyderabad Police Commissionerate held an Executive Court session at the Commissioner of Police office located in the TGICCC buildings in Banjara Hills, Hyderabad. The session examined information presented by the Station House Officer (SHO) of the Humayun Nagar police station.
The hearing centred around a political rivalry between Mohd Majid Hussain, MLA of AIMIM representing the Nampally Assembly Constituency, and Mohd Feroz Khan, a contestant for the Congress MLA position in Nampally.
On October 7, 2024, while Majid Hussain and his supporters were inspecting civic work on CC roads in Feroz Gandhi Nagar, Feroz Khan and his followers arrived to assess the same project. Tensions escalated when Majid Hussain and his followers objected, leading to a quarrel between the two groups. The situation quickly deteriorated into a fistfight, with both sides attacking each other and throwing stones, resulting in injuries to several followers and causing panic among the public. The police intervened to disperse the crowds and registered a case under Section 194 of the BNSS Act, 2023, against members of both parties.
The Commissioner inquired about the incident from the SHO. The SHO informed the Court that the rivalry between the two groups has led to illegal actions that breach public peace in Humayun Nagar and its surrounding areas. He requested the Court to bind the individuals over for a reasonable period, as there was a high likelihood of further disturbances.
The Commissioner heard testimonies from members of both groups - 10 representatives from Group A, led by Majid Hussain, and nine from Group B, led by Feroz Khan. The Commissioner advised both groups to refrain from provocative activities and adjourned the case for further hearing.
