Telangana Director for Public Health G Srinivas Rao today said that the daily coronavirus cases in the state would decline by September.
While the cases in the GHMC area would start coming down by end-August, the problem in the rest of the state would also start reducing by September, he told a media conference.
There was also no need to fear the coronavirus as it was not deadly and only those with co-morbidities were losing lives, he added.
Also, the Telangana government had released Rs 100 crore to check the pandemic, and the results were showing, he claimed. Almost all government hospitals were now offering corona treatment, and PHCs in districts and towns were fully equipped with apparatus, staff, labs and medicines to treat Covid-19 patients. About 1,800 oxygen beds would be in place soon as tenders had been called. There were 1,100 health centres offering coronavirus testing in Telangana. And the recovery rate had started increasing and the death rate had started decreasing.
Rao also said that treatment for Covid-19 needed only around Rs 10,000, and that people should avoid private hospitals and get treated instead in government hospitals. He also expressed hope that private hospitals would stick to the government-prescribed fee structure.
