Hyderabad | 23rd March 2020
The Rythu Bazaars in the two Telugu-speaking states have turned out the most busy places due to the lockdown announced by the two state governments till March 31 of this month to contain the coronavirus COVID-19.

The Rythu Bazaars and malls (wherever malls were allowed to operate) in Hyderabad, Vijayawada, Visakhapatnam, Warangal, Khammam, Karimagar, Nizamabad and Adilabad brimmed with customers throughout the day. The police found it difficult to control the crowd as there was a sudden surge on the roads.

Taking advantage of the surge in demand for vegetables and fruits, the middlemen and brokers increased their prices manifold.

Meanwhile, the managements of malls made special arrangements to test their customers. They allowed customers inside only after screening them for temperatures.
