Nalgonda MLA Komatireddy Venkat Reddy alleged that the police had made arrests based on false information in the case of the murder of Nalgonda Municipal chairperson Boddupalli Lakshmi's husband Boddupalli Srinivas, and that they had detained the suspects without even interrogating them.
Speaking to the media at Assembly media point on Monday, Komatireddy pointed out several irregularities in the cops' explanation.
First, he asked why the police did not interrogate the "mirchi bandi" owner Yadaiah in front of whom everything allegedly started. There was also no response from the police though Yadaiah had lodged a complaint with them saying that some people had destroyed his bandi. "It shows that police knew about murder and hence didn't respond on it," Komatireddy said. The suspects had murdered Srinivas in a pre-planned manner while having beers to make it look like they did it in a drunken stupor.
Then, he pointed out that a person named Mohandas had showed the body of Boddupalli Srinivas to the police after his wife Lakshmi had approached the police alleging that her husband was missing. But the SP announced that Lakshmi had seen her husband's body even before the police did.
He also said that the police hadn't retrieved the call data of any of the suspects till now.
The SP had also failed to answer any of the questions posed by the scribes, he claimed. For example, there were no stones earlier at the spot where the murder happened, and the cops had no convincing explanation for where the stones used to smash Srinivas had come from, he said.
It was a purely political murder, Komatireddy said, and alleged that Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao, the DCP and the SP had roles in it. He claimed that the suspects had warned Srinivas in a Coffee Day outlet that they would kill Srinivas any time in the next 20 days, and had indeed done that.
Another murder had taken place in Nalgonda today, he said, and alleged that murder politics were starting to dominate the district. He alleged that some unidentified people were threatening to kill former Nakrekal MLA Chirumarthi Lingaiah over the phone, and there was no response from the police though Lingaiah had furnished the numbers to them.
He said that the Chief Minister needed to hand the case over to the CBI if he had no role in the murder, said that he would approach the High Court in case the government failed to respond on his demand.
"We need to approach the courts now as we have no belief in this government," he said.
