Convergys Celebrates Sankranthi
Employee engagement activities and community initiatives mark the celebrations at Convergys' Hitech City facility in Hyderabad, and at Satya Sai Old Age Home.
Convergys celebrated Makara Sankranthi (Pongal), the Indian harvest festival, all through the festivities, from 12-14 January, at its Hitech City facility in Hyderabad, and at Satya Sai Old Age Home.
On Thursday, employees at the Convergys campus teamed up to create "Rangolis," a traditional decorative folk art of India, and the cafeteria featured a special festival menu for employees.
In addition, employees involved in corporate social responsibility projects planned festival-related activities for the unprivileged senior citizens of the community. A team of Convergys volunteers visited the Satya Sai Old Age Home on Saturday morning, to greet the residents and organize the auspicious ritual of lighting the sacred "Bhogi" campfire.
"Bhogi" is observed on the first day of the four-day "Makara Sankranthi" celebrations in Andhra Pradesh.
