Chief Minister Revanth Reddy today directed officials to constitute a committee for the establishment of cow shelters and to come up with an action plan within a stipulated time.
The CM held a review meeting with officials on the development and management of cow shelters to provide care and protection for cattle in Telangana.
During the meeting, Reddy said that cow shelters needed to be established in a manner that facilitated the protection and management of cows. In the first phase, he suggested establishing the shelters on the premises of the Veterinary University, the Agriculture University, and colleges and temples across the State. Officials have been asked to identify suitable land and prepare a comprehensive plan to establish these shelters with state-of-the-art facilities.
The Chief Minister also suggested that the shelters be established on sprawling 50-acre plots with grazing and free-roaming facilities, ensuring the cattle did not feel the place congested.
"The plans should be prepared with full budget estimates for the construction, management and care of the shelters," he added.
He also said that the active involvement of charitable organizations in the management and protection of cows needed to be explored.
The Chief Minister reviewed various designs for cow shelters to be set up at M K Palli in the Moinabad mandal of Rangareddy district and suggested some changes. Officials were instructed to finalise the designs for the shelters within five days.
