Continuing on his spree of making controversial statements, former minister Dr. P Shankar Rao predicted that the Congress will not win more than 20 seats in the next elections.
Talking to reporters in the Assembly premises, Shankar Rao alleged that the condition of the Congress in the state was worse than the situation the BJP had faced in Karnataka before the recently-concluded elections.
He said that there's no coordination between Chief Minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy and his deputy Damodar Rajanarasimha. Rao also said that there was a similar lack of coordination between PCC president Botsa Satyanarayana and other ministers.
He said that if the same situation continues, then the Congress would, indeed, be lucky to win 20 seats.
Further, Shankar Rao (who was himself arrested for his alleged involvement in the Greenfields land encroachment case) said that YSR Congress party president Y S Jaganmohan Reddy's popularity is on the rise (despite the several scams that he is embroiled in currently) especially due to the criticism he has been facing from other political parties. He also said that the TDP was in a much better position than the Congress.
However, he said that the situation could be reversed if the Congress recognises genuine party workers and concentrates on strengthening the organisation from within. (INN)
