T-Congress Slams TRS For Rider On Farm Loan Waiver
The Telangana Congress alleged that KCR had changed after becoming the CM by adding a rider that only the loans taken during 2013-14 would be waived off.
Telangana Congress leaders on Thursday accused the TRS of going back on its promise of waiving off farm loans of up to Rs 1 lakh.
Addressing separate press conferences, Telangana Congress leaders K Jana Reddy, D Srinivas and D K Aruna said that the TRS government must not impose any pre-conditions on the loan waiver scheme.
They said that the Telangana Rashtra Samithi president K Chandrasekhar Rao had not originally mentioned anything about the period of the loans that would be waived off. However, after assuming the charge as the Chief Minister of Telangana, he had changed his tone and imposed a rider stating that only the loans taken during 2013-14 would be waived off.
Jana Reddy said that many farmers had secured not more than Rs 25,000 in loans in the year 2013-14, while their outstandings for the previous years were much higher. Therefore, the TRS must not cheat the farmers by imposing pre-conditions, he averred. (INN)
