Amid the heated exchanges going on between the TRS and the Telangana Congress over the flood situation and the irrigation projects, Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee (TPCC) chief N Uttam Kumar Reddy today accused the TRS-led government of stealing credit for the Sripada Yellampalli project from the Congress.
"The previous Congress governments spent Rs. 2,300 crores on the Sripada Yellampalli project and almost completed it. But the project got stalled due to elections and other fund-guzzling activities. The TRS-led government is now restarting the project with only Rs. 400 crores. But it is quite dishonestly boasting about constructing the project at only one-third the price," Reddy alleged.
Claiming that the State government was spending thousands of crores on constructing the needless Mallanna Sagar reservoir for the Kaleshwaram lift irrigation project, he said that the government should instead focus on Yellampalli.
