Former minister and senior Congress leader Mohammed Ali Shabbir today strongly criticized the BRS government for the "sorry state of affairs" in the education system of the State.
Speaking to media persons at the Kamareddy district Congress office on Saturday, Shabbir Ali condemned the recent incident of mass copying reported in Kamareddy, and demanded severe action against those responsible for it.
He said that mass copying and impersonation took place during the conduct of the Open SSC exams at a centre in Kamareddy, and that the incident happened with the connivance of the District Education Officer (DEO), sitting squad, invigilators and other staff, and that lakhs of rupees changed hands. He demanded that justice be done to the students who had sacrificed their sleep and comfort to prepare for the exam, and called for a thorough investigation into the matter.
He added that it was not an isolated incident, and accused some corrupt teachers in Kamareddy of tarnishing the image of the entire teaching profession. He said that many teachers in Kamareddy had brought glory to their profession, and had also received awards at the State level. However, a few corrupt teachers were tarnishing the image of the district, he said, and demanded stern action against all the guilty irrespective of their position, and that all officials and non-officials involved in the racket be punished.
Earlier in the day, Shabbir Ali visited Machareddy village and interacted with the people, farmers and caste associations about their problems. He assured them that the next Congress government would resolve their problems.
