If reports are to be believed, the Congress-PRP merger will be made official in a week.
Praja Rajyam Party (PRP) leaders on Friday submitted the required documents to the Election Commission (EC) in New Delhi. The state Congress is also expected to write to the EC within a day or two.
According to sources, a few differences have surfaced between the PRP and the Congress, with the former soon-to-be-erstwhile party demanding that at least 3 ministerial berths be provided to its members.
PRP President Chiranjeevi, who was hitherto remarkably patient with the activities of the Congress, is reportedly losing his cool. The actor-turned-politician was apparently miffed when Sonia Gandhi
expressed dissent over formally announcing the merger in a grand ceremony in the state.
Adding fuel to fire, the Congress is yet to discuss with him the role that he and the rest of his party will play in the Congress.
Also, PRP MLA Shoba Naga Reddy voiced objected to the EC regarding the Congress-PRP merger, but another PRP member brushed off this action saying that the dissent of one MLA would have no impact whatsoever.
