Staunch Y S Jaganmohan Reddy loyalists and MLAs Srikanth Reddy and Gurunath Reddy on Friday threatened to resign from the Assembly if the state government failed to implement former Chief Minister, the late Y S Rajasekhara Reddy's welfare schemes.
Talking to media persons at Assembly media point, they criticized Health Minister D L Ravindra Reddy for alleging that Jaganmohan Reddy had earned lakhs of crores of rupees with the support of his father, and told the minister to back his words with substance and proof.
The 2 MLAs went a step further and dared him to resign from his constituency, and contest again to win on his personal influence. They added that they would also do the same and win back their seats because they would be fighting under the banner of Jaganmohan Reddy.
The 2 MLAs added that Ravindra and the Congress party would soon realise how much adoration and respect for the YSR family the people had in their hearts. The by-elections would also reveal the true political heir of YSR, they said.
The MLAs added that the Congress government in the state came to power with the policies and schemes introduced by YSR.
They condemned the allegations made by the minister against Jaganmohan Reddy and termed them as 'baseless'.
The MLAs also alleged that Telugu Desam Party President N Chandrababu Naidu and the minister had entered into a tacit agreement. They added that this tacit agreement was the reason why Ravindra Reddy had been singing Naidu's paeans, and criticizing YSR.
They also objected to the description of the 48-hour 'Lakshya Deeksha' in Vijayawada as 'sycophants strike', and said that it was an insult to the farmers' community in the state, who were in hapless condition due to state government's adamant attitude.
The MLAs demanded that Ravindra Reddy withdraw his comments immediately and threatened of serious consequences if the government failed to implement YSR schemes.
When asked if their participation in Deeksha would invite wrath from the High Command, they said, "We have not done anything wrong by extending solidarity to farmers cause".
