The Congress, already struggling to stay alive in Telangana, saw yet another leader resign from the party. Congress leader Indira Shoban today handed in her papers and stepped down from her post, that of the TPCC's official spokesperson.
Speaking on the occasion, she said that she had served the party for the last seven years, and thanked everyone who had stood by her during her stint. Shoban then revealed that she was resigning from her post as she was hurt by the attitude of some of the senior leaders of the party towards her, and that she would soon be joining the political party to be floated by Y S Sharmila, daughter of former Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Y S Rajasekhar Reddy and sister of incumbent CM Y S Jaganmohan Reddy.
(Some sources claim that the reason for the leader's discontent was the party's decision to field former minister G Chinna Reddy from the Hyderabad-Rangareddy-Mahabubnagar graduates MLC constituency instead of her.)
"I have served the Congress for many years, and would like to thank all those who supported me during my time with the party. However, I have decided to leave the party as it has consistently failed to fight the TRS' misrule. My priority is the development of my state, and I believe joining a new party will allow me to work towards this, and to fight the ruling party better," she added.
The leader also said that she would share the details about her entry into Sharmila's party with the public when the time was right.
Meanwhile, Sharmila, who had recently dropped broad hints that she would be launching herself into active politics in the days to come, and would also be floating her own party in Telangana, has been
roaring ahead with the preparations for its launch.
