Pradesh Congress Committee president Botsa Satyanarayana, on Wednesday, dismissed allegations of the Congress having adopted a dual stand on the Telangana issue.
Botsa said that the PCC would not go against the decision of the Congress Working Committee. However, he said that it was the responsibility of the PCC to convey the feelings of the people of all regions to the Group of Ministers (GoM).
He also said that the Congress MLAs would be free to express their views on the bifurcation issue when the Telangana Bill gets presented in the state Legislative Assembly.
He also hinted that the Congress Legislature Party would not issue a whip when the Telangana Bill comes for voting.
The PCC president clarified that his meeting with Union Home Minister Sushil Kumar Shinde was not related to the bifurcation of the state. He claimed that he had met Shinde in connection with relief for the destruction of areas in AP that were recently hit by the cyclone and rain.
He also denied having received any invitation from the GoM. However, he said he would represent the GoM as PCC chief, in case he is invited.
He also expressed ignorance about the report submitted by the Chief Secretary to the GoM. (INN)
