Telangana Congress leader Ponguleti Sudhakar Reddy today claimed that the State government had failed to contain the spread of dengue at its epicentre in Khammam.
Talking to the media at the Secretariat, he demanded that the State government announce health emergency and a dengue epidemic in the State.
Reddy attributed the spread of the disease to the negligence of government health officials.
He pointed out that around 20,000 people in Khammam were booked for dengue. No steps were taken despite repeated appeals by the Congress, he claimed.
Reddy also said that the Congress had already several letters to Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao, Health Minister and other concerned officials on the ground situation in Khammam.
He also found fault with the State government for rushing medical teams to the district after much delay.
