Congress Delegation Meets KCR Over Judicial Death
A Congress delegation today met Telangana CM K Chandrashekar Rao and urged him to take action against those involved in a Dalit woman's "lock-up death".

A delegation of Congress leaders, headed by CLP leader Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka, today called on Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao, and urged the latter to take action against those involved in the "lock-up death" of a Dalit woman Mariyamma which had occurred at the Addagudur police station of Yadadri Bhongir district.
They submitted a representation to the CM on the issue in which they urged KCR to do justice to the family of the victim and punish the accused.
The delegation also discussed the prevalent problem of the attacks on the SCs and STs of the state.
The group, comprising Bhatti Vikramarka, and MLAs D Sridhar Babu, Komatireddy Rajagopal Reddy, and T Jayaprakash Reddy, later told the media that they had explained the manner in which the Dalit woman was brutally murdered by the police while she was in custody.
They said that they brought up the issue of attacks being carried out against the Dalits and the tribals of the state, and added that they had urged the CM to take steps to protect the vulnerable sections of society.
"The CM has asked DGP M Mahender Reddy to intensify the probe into the issue. He also assured us that he would take action against the accused. We are happy to note that he responded positively to our demands of sanctioning Rs 10 lakh to the victim's family and of providing employment to her son Uday Kiran," the Congress leaders added.
The same delegation also called on Governor Tamilisai Soundararajan and appealed to her to order an enquiry into the lockup death incident.
Speaking on the matter, delegation member Jagga Reddy wondered if the state even had a Home Minister and a DGP, and asked the police to change their "problematic attitudes".
