The meeting of a delegation of CLP leaders with Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao, on the recent "lock-up" death of a Dalit woman, that was held on June 25, has reportedly led to a rift within the Congress unit in the state.
TPCC chief and Nalgonda MP N Uttam Kumar Reddy articulated his displeasure at the CLP delegation's decision to call on KCR. Expressing this, he said that he did not agree with the move of the CLP members to hold the meeting.
The leader made these remarks during his interaction with CLP leader Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka. Various party MLAs, including D Sridhar Babu and T Jayaprakash Reddy, who had also attended yesterday's meeting, put forth views opposing the TPCC chief's.
Vikramarka too asked him why he was so opposed to the decision and what was wrong about taking the problems of the public to the CM.
This tension between Congress leaders has been caused by the fact that a delegation of CLP leaders, headed by Vikramarka, had called on the CM, urging the latter to take action against those involved in the "lock-up death" of Mariyamma which had occurred at the Addagudur police station of Yadadri Bhongir district some days ago.
They had
submitted a representation to the CM on the issue in which they had urged KCR to do justice to the family of the victim and punish the accused.
