Congress Defends Decision To Not Give Permission For Formula E

The Congress has defended the State government's decision to deny permission for the conduct of the E-Prix event in Hyderabad.

Formula E on Saturday announced the Season 10 race calendar, with the Hyderabad race (Round 4) scheduled for February 10 this year absent from it.

Congress leader Niranjan expressed happiness at his party's government's decision to cancel the Hyderabad E-Prix event, and said that it would give a big relief to the people.

Speaking to the media at Gandhi Bhavan, Niranjan alleged that the previous BRS government had taken a foolish decision by allowing Formula E races which caused many traffic problems in Hyderabad. He added that the race was of no use to the people.

Niranjan found fault with the statement of BRS working president K T Rama Rao that investments would result from these races, and said that KTR lacked knowledge on how to generate investments.

Referring to separate elections for two MLC seats in Telangana, the Congress leader said that the same thing happened in Uttar Pradesh in the past, and that the elections would be held as per the rules of the Election Commission of lndia.
